HErZ Climate Monitoring and Diagnostics is jointly working with the Climate and Environment department of the German Meteorological Service (Deutscher Wetterdienst - DWD) on an enhanced 2nd version of the European reanalysis COSMO-REA6. While details are not yet fixed, the intended changes include the use of the newest model version, an increased vertical resolution, an enhanced land surface representation and the use of ERA5 as lateral boundary data. The production of the data set is planned to start in 2020.
The current version of COSMO-REA6 system has stopped production as the ERA-Interim boundary data is only available until summer 2019.
